Working on an Apocalypse Challenge!

So I've been doing a Sims 3 Apocalypse Challenge the last few days, because it's been forever since I've done one, and I've NEVER finished one. I'm not good at playing completely without cheats, plus all the challenge restrictions, etc... So I'm actually playing it now, and it is SUPER hard. My founder (Octavia) was great, easy to manage. She met a man at work (Sherman) that wasn't too ugly, so I made her seduce him and break up with his girlfriend. I know, shame shame, but decent looking Townies are hard to come by!

Anywho, so I was going to make one of those story blogs about their trials and blahblahblah, but for some reason when I do those I get really burned out really quick, so I decided to just document my views on playing the challenge instead. I just decided this today, so I don't have screenshots or anything at the moment.

 Gen 1
Octavia was a Sim I got off of the exchange and then ended up modifying fairly heavily. Loved the custom hair though! So right off the bat I get her a job in the Military, since it was the first in the paper. Get her working on that, meeting co-workers, hanging out with co-workers. Eventually she gets Best Friends with Sherman, invites him over, took like 3 Sim days to get him to leave his girlfriend! So once she reaches the top of the military career track (unlocking Hopelessness and Military), he moves in, they get hitched, and she gets knocked up just in time. The day after the twins Tatiana and Julia were born, she aged to Elder. Sheesh.

Gen 2
So, I kept a close on the girls as they aged to each new phase, for attractiveness and decent traits, because I'm a shallow Sim-Goddess. So I really liked the name Tatiana and had decided at birth that she would be the heir and Julia the spare. And as they reached Teen that was confirmed. Tatiana was beautiful, Julia just slightly less so, but Tatiana had the better set of traits (since even the ones you pick have to be Randomized). So they made it through the teen years with some difficulty. They aren't allowed to go to school until The Renaissance Sim is unlocked (I think it's different if you have all the expansions, but I play by the Base Game rules since I only have Pets).

So the girls have a rough Teen life and when they age... Tatiana is Insane! Julia got Workaholic. Tatiana also got a nose that looks like her sister socked her one and broke it. So, reassigning roles. Julia is now the Gen 2 heir. Since Military is unlocked, you can make them walk to get a job instead of just going with the first one in the newspaper, so Julia goes to become and Athlete, and Tatiana goes into Law Enforcement. I decide to get Julia married right away so that I have an extra hand around the house and as soon as she hits the top of her career she needs to get pregnant. Tatiana is fated to live her life single, alas, since I don't need more mouths to feed that can't contribute to the Legacy.

Sadly, Julia just died last night in a tragic fire. She was just trying to fix the TV so her husband could exercise! Now that he's lost some weight he's a total hottie, but she didn't need to die for it. So, since I put so much work into getting them married, and moving him in, making him all buff and sexy, I decided not to waste that effort, so he's now married to Tatiana. I wasted no time in getting her pregnant, just in case. She'll lose her job, but I'll worry about that later. I just want to make sure she doesn't die without an heir!

And that's where I'm at now! The next post will probably have some screenshots.

Sims 3 Random Legacy Challenge

 Intro

I made this blog and realized I didn't really have anything I wanted to blog about. Which sucks. And then I forgot I had a blog until today, when I was going to start one to document a Sims Challenge. Very convenient, I think.

So, I've done Sims 2 Challenges before, but I haven't tried any Sims 3 Challenges yet. The Random Legacy Challenge, by Tigger89, can be found here. I'm not going to post the rules of the challenge except the ones that I've rolled, you'll have to check out the link and read the rules for yourself if you wish to do the challenge.

____________

My Thoughts On The Subject

Marital status is good. I have a couple that will ultimately adopt. I haven't created them yet, but I think I'm going to make a lesbian couple. They will then adopt child. That works for me. I don't really like huge sim families. I get focused on one or two and ignore the rest, which isn't really fair to the rest of the poor neglected simmies. Hmm... Incomes. I've been neglecting most of the Ambitions jobs, so I actually haven't had a Medical profession sim before. It should be fun. The secondary, part-time job... whatever. It's not hard or time-consuming but it won't bring in much money either. But that's okay.

On to the two big ones. Expansionist, hmm? Well, I like to build, so it won't be a problem, but I just have to decide what I want to build. I'm thinking about maybe a "pool house", like have the pool, with surrounding marble flooring, columns around it, with an open upstairs deck for sunbathing or whatever. But I'm not sure yet. I'll get there. As for the Partier part... yeah... I'm not really into parties much. So a party per week will stretch my comfort zone a bit, which is the point of the challenge, so it's a success, but I could be happier with this part. But who knows? Maybe I'll turn into a huge party machine and become addicted to sim parties!

Next post will be my introduction of the happy sim couple, once I've made them!
